Emilija Buschmann

Emilija Buschmann (Amelia Neubuck, Amelia Buschman) was the first wife of The Rev. Peter Buschmann. She was the daughter of the Rev. John Neubuck, the second pastor of the First Philadelphia Lettish Baptist Church. Her mother's name was Lena. Emilija was born in April 6, 1896, in Latvia and immigrated in 1904 with the family to the United States. She had two brothers, John and Paul. In 1910, the Neubuck family was living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, according to the 1910 federal census. The Rev. Neubuck was by then pastor of the Boston Latvian Baptist church.

Emilija married Peter Buschmann in December 1914 after she completed high school.1 They had a daughter, Lola (Lolly), in 1915, but she died at age 3 from tubercular meningitis2. Sometime in the early 1920s, Emilija and Peter divorced. Emilija by 1935 was a patient in the Medfield State Hospital in Massachusetts, according to the 1940 federal census.

Emilija died July 22, 1981, and is buried next to her daughter in Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, according to findagrave.com.
