William Consul

William Consul

William August Consul (Wilhelm Consul or Konsul) was born in Ventspils on Aug. 14, 1885, according to his World War I draft registration card.1 Along with Oscar Kupler, he immigrated in 1906 to the United States. Consul and Tillie Lieke (also known as Lilly) married in 1909.2 In 1910, the couple lived at 354 Wolf St. in Philadelphia with their 1-year-old son, according to the U.S. census.3 William Consul was 25. In 1920, he lived at 4129 Parrish St. in Philadelphia with his wife, son Robert W. (born in Pennsylvania) and daughter Beatrice (born in Pennsylvania), according to that year's census.4 He worked as a machinist in a shop. Also living in the house was the Hans Eagle (Egle) family.

The 1930 census reveals that the family had moved to East Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.5 Robert had a wife, Eleanor, and a daughter, Deloris. Eleanor was a daughter of Otto Sr. and Wilhelmina Lieke (and, therefore, the sister of Tillie Lieke Consul). William August Consul became a naturalized U.S. citizen relatively late, in 1941 at the age of 54.6 The following year, he registered for the World War II draft, but his birthdate was recorded as Aug. 13, 1886.7

He died in November 1971 at the age of 85.8
