Wilhelmina Schaltzar

Wilhelmina Schaltzar

Wilhelmina Schaltzar (Schaltjahr, also Schaltyar) was born in November 1894. She was the daughter of Carl and Mary (Berthold) Schaltjahr and younger sister of Clara Schaltjar.

In 1920, she married John Skulmis, a fellow Latvian Baptist.1 At the time, she and her sister lodged in the same house on Viola Street in West Philadelphia.

At the time of the 1940 federal census, Wilhelmina and John were living on Burnley Lane in Upper Darby Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.2 Wilhelmina worked as a dressmaker while John was a piano maker.

She died in 1995 and is buried in Broomall, Pennsylvania, alongside her sister and husband.
