Karl Pawelkop

Karl (Charles) Pawelkop was born Feb. 28, 1884, in NÄ«grande. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1911, according to the passenger list for the S.S. Merion. Pawelkop married fellow Latvian Baptist Minnie Balod in 1916 in Pennsylvania. When he registered for the draft in 1917, he and his wife were living at 707 N. 43rd St. in Philadelphia.

By the time of the 1920 U.S. census, the couple had moved to 3924 Parrish St. in Philadelphia and had an almost 3-year-old son, Oswald. Also at that address were Max and Carolina Klaische and their son Edward (born in Virginia), their daughter Evelyn Beck and granddaughter Pauline Beck, as well as Otto and Philomena Leike. Karl Pawelkop died in 1976 in Florida at the age of 92.
