Lena Deklau (christened as Karolina) was born in 1888 in Aizpute, Latvia, and came to the United States in 1910, according to her petition for naturalization.1

In 1914, she married John Silaray (also known as Ansis or Hans).2 In 1917, Lena gave birth to Alida (1917–1972). However, by the mid-1920s, the marriage was over.

Lena married Arthur R. Eglit in 1928.

Lena died in 1954 of a cerebral hemorrhage.3
