Clara Schaltjar

Clara Tilly Schaltjar (Klara Schaltjahr, also Schaltyar) was born in November 1890 in Ventspils and came to the United States in 1905, according to her naturalization petition.1 However, her death certificate listed April 23, 1887, as the date of birth.2

She became a U.S. citizen in 1929. At that time, she worked as a dressmaker and lodged at 4205 Viola St. in West Philadelphia.

Clara was the sister of Wilhelmina Schaltzar.

She died in 1950 and is buried in Broomall, Pennsylvania, alongside her sister and brother-in-law, John Skulmis.
